Planícia is located in the municipality of Banyalbufar in the west of Mallorca in the Serra de Tramuntana mountains, which have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The estate covers 442 ha and its distinctive features include a great holm oak forest, and has traces of the rural life that used to go on there, and the view from the houses, with exceptional panoramas of the west coast of Mallorca.
The terrain of Planícia, which extends from sea level to the peak of Mola de Planícia at 933 metres in height, favours a patchwork of plant landscapes, making it possible to see different Mediterranean scenic settings of high natural value. The most important plant species for bees are brooms (Genista sp.), Mediterranean buckthorn (Rhamnus alaternus), many-flowered Mediterranean heather (Erica multiflora), holm oak (Quercus ilex), common myrtle (Myrtus communis), brambles (Rubus sp.), grey-leaved cistus (Cistus albidus), plums (Prunus sp.), clover (Lotus sp.), strawberry trees (Arbutus unedo), and carob (Ceratonia siliqua) and almond trees (Prunus dulcis) that reflect the estate’s agricultural history.
