Geographical origin

Fartàritx is located in the municipality of Pollença, in the north-east of Mallorca in the foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains, which have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It has an area of 200 ha and the area is notable for its elevated situation, in the shadow of Puig del Ca de Miner with the Cuculla de Fartàritx on one side and the bulk of Puig Tomir on the other, Its location overlooking the Vall d’en March is also especially noteworthy.

Botanical origin

Fartàritx is full of small environments and microhabitats that are hard to access. This means that we can find plants there such as Mediterranean buckthorn (Rhamnus alaternus), genista (Genista spp.), common hawthorn (Crataegus sp.), many-flowered heath (Erica multiflora), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), holm oaks (Quercus ilex), fennel (Foeniculum spp.), vetches (Vicia spp.), lilies (Liliaceae), and in the fertile land we find French honeysuckle (Hedysarum coronarium), common thyme (Thymus vulgaris) and phacelia (Phacelia tanacetifolia) which complete the floral landscape of Fartàritx.
